Pastor Dye grew up in a Christian home, baptized as an infant and cannot remember a time when he did not know Jesus Christ as Savior. He became actively involved in ministry while in high school and as a student in college. He attended Purdue University in Indiana for one year and Central Bible College in Springfield, MO; where he graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible.

Upon graduation from college, Pastor Dye entered the US Army as German linguist and intelligence analyst serving at military postings in California, Texas, Maryland and Germany. Sensing a call to the ministry Pastor Dye left Active Duty to attend Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO where he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1984. Pastor Dye was licensed and ordained in 1984 in the Missouri Presbytery, of the PCA; where he was Associate Pastor at Providence Reformed Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, MO and also served as a Reserve Chaplain at Scott Air Force Base, IL.

In 1988 Pastor Dye received a call to return to Active Duty in the US Army as a chaplain. He remained on Active Duty until receiving a call as Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC. Chaplain Dye retired from the Army, 1 September 2004. While on Active Duty Chaplain Dye served tours of duty all over the world and finished his 26 year career as the Chaplain Basic Course Manager and Subject Matter Expert in World Religions for the US Army Chaplain Center and School at Ft Jackson, SC.

Pastor Dye holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible from Central Bible College, Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees from Covenant Theological Seminary, and a Master of Arts in Oriental and African Religions from the University of London, UK.

Pastor Dye’s family has attended Covenant Presbyterian Church since they came to Columbia in August 2000. He is married to the former Margaret Rosalind Manfield of Bude in Cornwall, United Kingdom. His daughter Ruth is a student at Erskine College; and sons, Daniel and Peter, are students at Covenant Christian School in Columbia.

Pastor is an avid hunter, fisherman and likes to watch, as well as, play most sports. He has an interest in Christian liturgy and worship; as well as, in the study of World Religions and particularly, current issues in Islam.
